Congratulations to Jeff Owens, the winner of our Twinkle Twinkle Touchable Star Chirstmas Tree!
Lighthouse Central Florida was fortunate to have our “Twinkle Twinkle Touchable Star” Christmas tree featured in this year’s Festival of Trees at the Orlando Museum of Art. An anonymous donor was kind enough to purchase the tree and donate it back to us so that we could raffle it off.
For a $20 donation you will receive one chance to win, or you can get 6 chances for $100. On Friday, December 14th, one lucky winner will be randomly selected from all entrants. You need not be present to win and winning the prize will include professional moving of the tree to a location of your choice within Orange, Seminole, or Osceola counties.
All donations go directly to Lighthouse Central Florida to benefit the life-changing programs and services provided to persons of all ages living with blindness and other severe vision impairment.
If you would like to donate for a chance to win, please call us at 407-898-2483 and ask for a development staff person, come visit us at 215 East New Hampshire Street Orlando, FL 32804, or click here to enter to win online.
Stop by Harmoni Market in College Park where you can see our tree displayed in person. On Wednesday night, December 5th, Harmoni Market is having a wine tasting event, and a Lighthouse staff member will be there selling the raffle tickets for a chance to win the tree. April 24, 2007 - Lighthouse Central Florida's 100th ILS (Independent Living Skills) Graduation
Wednesday, April 25th marks a special day for Lighthouse Central Florida (LCF), as it celebrates its 100th Independent Living Skills class graduation. The graduation will be held from 10am – 12pm at the LCF facility located in College Park at 215 East New Hampshire Street, Orlando, FL. 32804. With its 100th graduating class, Lighthouse Central Florida has now served over 2,500 adults in its Independent Living Skills classes.
The Independent Living Skills (ILS) class offered at LCF provides for adults the opportunity to learn how to live independently at home and take an active part in community life. Students learn how to manage information such as telephone numbers, grocery lists and checkbooks, organize household and personal items, and even how to cook safely. Imagine yourself at home or your workplace, placing a blind fold over your eyes and coping with your daily routine. How would you do your daily tasks, like use the telephone, use your computer, find your desk, check your agenda, and keep your appointments? How would you comb your hair or check your makeup? Who would you depend upon for your safety? What would you do for lunch? It is questions like these and many more that are answered in the Independent Living Skills class offered at Lighthouse Central Florida.
For additional information, please call Lighthouse Central Florida at 407-898-2483 or visit our location in the College Park area at 215 East New Hampshire Street, Orlando, FL. 32804. Assistance is offered to all ages.
