Michael and Lynne Golder are the husband and wife duo behind the popular radio show, Blind & Beyond. The show, which is produced at the studios of WOKB 1680AM in Ocoee, serves as a bridge for dialogue between the sighted community and those living with vision loss.
Katrina Guensch is a former attorney from New York City who has resided in Central Florida with her husband Wayne for the past 28 years. Katrina was first exposed to Lighthouse Central Florida through her close, personal friend, Susan Johnson. Susan used to chair the board of directors at Lighthouse Central Florida, and her late son, Jake, received services at Lighthouse.
These past few months at Lighthouse Central Florida and Lighthouse Works have been incredibly busy as we head into the next quarter of the year. A lot of our focus of late has been on reimagining the future of vision services here in Central Florida.
The Transition for Teens program at Lighthouse provides young people, aged 13-22, who are vision impaired, the skills and experience they need to successfully transition from high school to postsecondary activities, such as college, vocational school and employment.
This year, the program will end for 22 year-old Micael and 19 year-old Eduardo. It’s a bittersweet time for both students and for the Transition program staff.
