Dear Friends, Today marks the 23rd anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The ADA is a landmark law that profoundly changed our nation. On the trajectory of forming a more perfect union, the passage of the ADA in 1990 was a major step forward in keeping a key promise of the American experiment: ensuring equal opportunity for all. This is personally important to me.

Transition Summer 2013The Transition Summer Residential Program has come to an end for 2013. Overall, the summer program provided students with a sense of freedom and independence that they were able to put to practical use, which gave the students have a much greater understanding of what that (freedom and independence) actually means.

A Community Conversation: Social Enterprise Non-Profits and Its Circle of WinsIn 2008, Lighthouse Central Florida (LCF) conceived plans for a second division to be called Lighthouse Works! (LW!). It would be a social enterprise with two overarching objectives: 1) to create long term sustainable funding for LCF, and 2) to create professional career opportunities for the blind and visually impaired. Since its actual launch in 2011, LW! has grown significantly, and made strides towards achieving those objectives....
