Lighthouse Central Florida is the only private, non-profit agency offering a comprehensive range of services for babies, children, adults and seniors in Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties. Through effective programs , proven curricula, certified instructors, and years of personal and professional experience, Lighthouse ensures that individuals of all backgrounds have the tools they need to lead independent lives and pursue their goals without limits.
The services provided by Lighthouse Central Florida answer great and growing needs. Consider these facts:
• Today, there are nearly 80,000 Central Floridians living with some form of sight impairment. Due to severe underfunding, Lighthouse currently serves only 1,000 of these people annually.
• The number of Central Floridians living with sight impairment is expected to double in the next 10 years.
• At least one-half of our citizens over the age of 65 are at high risk of losing vision from Macular Degeneration, Glaucoma, or Diabetes.
Eligibility:
To receive services from Lighthouse Central Florida, individuals must have a diagnosed, permanent, bilateral (affecting both eyes) sight impairment that cannot be corrected with glasses, contact lenses, or surgery, resulting in difficulties in performing daily activities.
